CSU SPORTSCASTER BIRCUMSHAW DIES

(April 30, 2009) Rich Bircumshaw, who for the past 10 years was part of the radio broadcast team on CSU football and men's basketball games, died late Wednesday night, hours after being hospitalized following a stroke.
Denver radio station KOA reported this morning that Bircumshaw, 54, passed away at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland. No other details were immediately available. Bircumshaw was the play-by-play announcer for the Rams for the past eight seasons. He served as a color commentator his first two seasons working Colorado State University games. Bircumshaw also was news director for Clear Channel's five radio stations in Northern Colorado. CSU and Clear Channel officials could not immediately be reached for comment. |
