(April 28, 2009) Seven months after his departure from the weeknight shift at KLAC-AM (570), Joe McDonnell has resurfaced as a weekend co-host (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) with Bob Berger on the Sports News Radio Net -- accessible on the company website (www.sportingnews.com) as well as Sirius XM 127 or San Diego's XX Sports Radio 1090-AM.

McDonnell will also do some writing, reporting and blogging for the magazine and its website.

"I'm really happy to be with a great company like Sporting News Radio and do national radio on a national basis for the first time," McDonnell said. "It's a step I never knew when I'd take, but I've always hoped to do a national show. I've done a lot of things on the local level for so long, now it's time to take on a new challenge.

"It's really nice to work for people who really want me and see me as a part of the future of their show, and being able to write for a magazine that every sports fan from my generation grew up reading, I'm thrilled working with Bob Berger -- he was my boss long ago at UPI radio. And the real neat thing is local listeners can still hear it."
