GONZAGA ATHLETICS SIGNS NEW RADIO DEAL

(April 27, 2009) The Gonzaga University Department of Athletics and its multi-media rights holder IMG College, a division of IMG Worldwide, today announced it has reached an agreement with Radio Spokane for a 9-year radio flagship agreement.
“Through our newly extended partnership with Radio Spokane and IMG College, we will be able to better serve the interests of our fans and athletic programs,” said Mike Roth, Director of Athletics, Gonzaga University. “We are excited about the new initiatives we can develop to expand the level of fan involvement with Gonzaga athletics.” The new agreement includes radio broadcast of Gonzaga men’s basketball, which will be simulcast on dual Spokane Flagships 1510 KGA AM and 101.1 FM Rock ‘N’ Roll’s Greatest Hits, along with women’s basketball, and a selection of men’s baseball games. “Radio Spokane is thrilled at the opportunity to extend our partnership with the University and IMG as the flagship radio broadcaster of Gonzaga Athletics,” said Adam Nathanson, CEO, Mapleton Communications and Radio Spokane. The agreement also includes a significant expansion of Gonzaga-based programming for the fans which will encompass increased game day coverage, weekly shows, and special programming. “Radio Spokane is committed to taking our radio coverage to the next level with several new quality programming features to service the community of ZAG fans,” said Ron Hren, SVP, Radio Spokane IMG College will manage all production responsibilities of programming and work to build a regional radio network for Gonzaga in the future. “The combination of IMG’s global resources and Radio Spokane’s experience in community involvement will maximize the enhancements and reach of the Gonzaga Radio Network,” said Kris Kassel, General Manager, IMG College. “We look forward to the opportunities to expand Gonzaga’s radio programming throughout the region.” The new agreement is effective July 1, 2009 and will run through 2018. |
