(April 23, 2009) Former New York Rangers forward Ron Duguay and former New Jersey Devils defenseman Ken Daneyko will host a new weekly talk show on Sirius XM Sports Nation called "Ice Breakers," it was announced Wednesday.
The show will be more than just about sports. It will be a lifestyle-themed show geared towards men. "Ice Breakers" will air Thursdays from 7-9 p.m. Sirius channel 122 and XM channel 143. A special edition of the show will be on tonight starting at 7. Duguay and Daneyko sharing their thoughts on a wide array of topics covering health and lifestyle, relationships, sports and entertainment. As star athletes whose interests extend far beyond the world of sports, the pair talks about their own lives in and out of the public eye. Each week they’ll encourage callers around the country to phone in and be a part of the discussion, and will regularly welcome special guests to the show. "I am extremely excited about this show," Duguay in a statement. "It gives me the opportunity to share my thoughts on all topics above and beyond sports. Allowing Kenny and I the ability to talk about any subject while incorporating our own personal experiences, which have been both good and bad and oftentimes funny, reinforces to our Sirius XM audience that we are just two regular guys. This is why I believe 'Ice Breakers' will be entertaining and unlike any other show.” “I haven’t been this excited since I won my first Stanley Cup Championship,” said Daneyko. “It’s an awesome opportunity to team up with Ron and talk about the many things that interest us both. The two of us have experienced so many ups and downs in our lives. We are older and wiser, and can now look back and laugh with our listeners. No matter what you want to call us, 'The Odd Couple' or even 'Beauty and the Beast,' I know the listeners will find our show very entertaining.” |
