(April 21, 2009) Veteran sports producer and director Bob Goodrich will be among the inductees in the 2009 class of the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame. A banquet honoring the inductees will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Baylor University ’s Ferrell Center .

Goodrich, a 1963 graduate of Dallas ’ Woodrow Wilson High School , was named to the All-America teams in 1962 and 1963, and was a three-year football letterman at the school. An outstanding all-around athlete, Goodrich was also a three-year letterman in basketball and track. He was named to the High School All -State first team as a junior in 1962. Texas Football Magazine named Goodrich to their 40th Anniversary Super Team first team.

“I am very, very honored to have been chosen for the Hall of Fame,” said Goodrich. “The lessons you learn and the memories you take with you from high school are priceless. Playing football has influenced almost everything in my life.”

Following his outstanding high school football career, and despite receiving 50-60 college scholarship offers from schools around the country, Goodrich chose to stay in Texas to play college football at Southern Methodist University (SMU). He played tight end on the SMU team that won the 1966 Southwest Conference (SWC) Championship and played in the 1967 Cotton Bowl.

Bob Goodrich is a 15-time Emmy award winning producer who has worked on some of sports’ most memorable telecasts since 1970. Goodrich served as producer of ABC’s Monday Night Football from 1980-86. Among the many highlights during his career at ABC Sports was serving as the producer for the network’s first-ever coverage of the Super Bowl (XIX) in January of 1985. He also produced the Super Bowl XXV pre-game and halftime programs in Tampa in 1991. Preceding and following his stint as the producer for MNF, Goodrich oversaw ABC Sports’ coverage of college football for 15 years as producer, and eight as the coordinating producer.

Additionally, Goodrich was the coordinating producer of 1998 World Cup of Soccer, and oversaw the production of ABC Sports’ live coverage of the Indianapolis 500 for 16 consecutive years. Goodrich also served as the producer of the network’s coverage of various events during the 1976, 1980, 1984 and 1988 Winter Olympics and the 1976 and 1984 Summer Olympics, among many other international sporting events.

Goodrich is currently a freelance television producer, director, and consultant for companies including ABC/ESPN. Along with his wife, Annie Hoffman Goodrich, he is the co-founder of Sportscast Stars Training, which provides media training to college and professional athletes and conducts training seminars for sports broadcasters.

Goodrich’s fellow Woodrow Wilson High School alumni Heisman Trophy winners Davey O’Brien and Tim Brown were previous inductees to the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame.

Goodrich will also be inducted into the Woodrow Wilson High School Hall of Fame on Saturday, April 25, 2009 . He will be a member of the fifth class of his alma mater so honored.
