SPORTSCASTER BARKLEY GETS ONLINE PLATFORM

(April 17, 2009) TNT's latest twist is marketing Charles Barkley. The network has given the provocative NBA analyst his own video channel — Barkley Zone, which premieres today on Turner-managed NBA.com.
Barkley will have lots of company at NBA.com. Chris Webber, along with DJ Nice, will have online webisodes resembling a late-night TV talk show. Ahmad Rashad, shooting his own footage, will try to talk to players during shoot-arounds and in their hotels. Barkley says he'll never move on to Twitter. "A bunch of losers tweeting," he says. "The concept of tweeting is that people are following you around in your everyday life." TNT's Kenny Smith says no problem: "So basically we'll have a bunch of stalkers. I want a million stalkers." |
