FISHER TO CALL EMERALDS BASEBALL
Press Release
(April 13, 2009) The Eugene Emeralds announced today the hiring of Chris Fisher as the organization's new play-by-play announcer for the upcoming season. Fisher replaces Matt McCabe who left Eugene to take a similar position with the Binghamton (NY) Mets of the Double-A Eastern League.

Fisher, a 2008 graduate of the University of Southern California, worked one season with the Potomac Nationals of the Class-A Carolina League. In addition to his broadcasting duties, Fisher was responsible for various media relations duties including print and website design. Fisher was also heavily involved in the P-Nats community relations efforts in the Woodbridge, Virginia area.

With the Trojans, Fisher worked for ESPN Radio 710 in Los Angeles as the Pre-Game Show host for USC Men's Basketball games. He also produced a weekly feature on USC women's athletics during Trojans football broadcasts. From 2005-07, Fisher had the opportunity to do play-by-play for all Trojans football games, home and away, on KSCR 1560-AM, USC's student radio station. With KSCR, Fisher was able to broadcast four Rose Bowl Games. In 2006-07 Fisher broadcast all Trojans baseball games, home and away, via the internet at USCTrojans.com.

Fisher becomes the franchises 14th broadcaster since 1982. Notable Emeralds play-by-play announcers include current Oregon State University football and men's basketball announcer Mike Parker (1983-86), along with former San Francisco Giants announcers Dave Glass (1987-88) and Dennis Higgins (1993-94, 2003-04). Of the previous 13, two went on to Major League Baseball, five moved to the Double-A or Triple-A level and three advanced to NCAA Division I sports upon leaving the Willamette Valley.

This season, all games can be heard on the new home of Emeralds baseball, 95.3 FM "The Score".
