EX-SPORTS ANCHOR EDWARDS BLASTS ESPN
(April 10, 2009) NESN's Jack Edwards apparently won't be returning to ESPN in this lifetime.

During an interview with a hockey website, the Boston Bruins' television play-by-play broadcaster blasted a one-timer at his former employer, whom he accused of blatantly disregarding hockey during its signature highlight show, "SportsCenter."

"There are some bozos sitting in the accounting department in a bunker in Burbank, Calif., running Disney, who look at the numbers and completely ignore the passion of hockey fans," said Edwards, a former "SportsCenter" anchor.

"They say 'poker gets better ratings because we can attract more compulsive gamblers to the screen than we can passionate hockey fans, so just for the sake of that number, we're going to run poker instead of hockey. We're going to run women's basketball instead of hockey.' We saw highlights of the Division 2 NCAA basketball championship, we didn't see a single NHL highlight [during one] entire [recent] 'SportsCenter.' Case closed."
