ORIOLES BASEBALL BROADCAST CUT SHORT
Courtesy
Baltimore Sun
(March 30, 2009) The Orioles-Mets game Sunday resumed after a long rain delay, but the radio broadcast didn't.
Announcers Joe Angel and Fred Manfra left Fort Lauderdale Stadium after 40 minutes of rain-delay radio, but they said they didn't just take it upon themselves to skip out. Angel told my colleague Peter Schmuck that the "powers that be" at flagship 105.7 The Fan told them the game was going to be rained out and they should leave. Manfra told Schmuck: "Joe and I didn't make that decision. That's above our pay grade." A call to radio management wasn't returned Sunday night. |
