Northwest Cable News
(March 23, 2009) A legendary member of the KING 5 family has passed away.
Sports broadcaster Bill O'Mara died Saturday morning at the age of 92. O'Mara was KING 5's first sports director and was known as the voice of Anacortes High School basketball. He was broadcasting Anacortes games on KLKI radio up until 2007, when he was let go after the station came under new ownership. He was renowned in the Northwest for broadcasting hydroplane races. O'Mara is survived by his five children. No service is planned, pursuant to his wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a gift to: The Unlimited Hydroplane Museum, 5917 S. 196th St., Kent, WA 98032. |
