HOUSTON ADDS NEW LOCAL SPORTS RADIO SHOW
(March 16, 2009) Fred Faour and Matt Dean will move into the 1-3 p.m. weekday slot on KFNC (97.5 FM), replacing the Mike Tirico/Scott Van Pelt shows from ESPN Radio. The Faour/Dean show, called The Blitz, will precede Carl Dukes’ show, which will air from 3 to 6 p.m., and Calvin Murphy’s show, which airs from 6 to 8 p.m.

“Tirico and Van Pelt has been kind of clunky for us,” said Dave Tepper, KFNC’s program director. “We’ve been looking at ways to be more local and tie the city into the station, and we feel we have the right personnel to do that.”

Faour, who began working weekends with Dean last year, said the show “will give us a chance to have the first local take of the day and will be a nice bridge between (ESPN’s Colin Cowherd) and Carl. We’ll stick to our strengths – football and basketball – and throw a little gambling in there, too.”
