SPORTSCASTER PROVUS JOINS BREWERS RADIO TEAM

(February 16, 2009) Bob Uecker’s new partner on Milwaukee Brewers radio broadcasts is Cory Provus, who recently worked on Chicago Cubs broadcasts.
Provus, who has done some radio play-by-play for Cubs games on WGN-AM (720) and served as a pre-game/post-game show host, replaces Jim Powell, who left the Brewers broadcasts for a similar post with the Atlanta Braves, according to a story Monday on the Web site of Brewers radio network flagship station WTMJ-AM (620). Powell had been Uecker’s partner for 13 years. Provus will serve as a radio play-by-play announcer and pre-game/post-game show host for WTMJ, the station said. Before working with the Cubs and WGN, Provus was the voice of the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s football, basketball and baseball teams while with International Sports Properties, WTMJ said. Provus graduated from Syracuse University. Provus is expected to make his debut with the Brewers and WTMJ during preseason broadcasts, which start Feb. 26 when the Brewers play the Oakland A’s. |
