LEGAL ISSUES SWIRL IN ST. LOUIS SPORTS RADIO
(February 13, 2009) It's been a rare quiet period with on-air moves at the three locally oriented sports radio stations, with the only significant development the expected return soon of Brian McKenna to the airwaves, to work with Bernie Miklasz at KSLG (1380 AM). But it's been a much busier time in the legal system.

Kevin Slaten still has a wrongful termination suit pending over his dismissal last spring by management at KFNS (590 AM, 100.7 FM).

"We still have every intention of going to court, in front of a jury and making our case,'' said Slaten, who now mans the midday shift at KSLG (1380 AM). "My guess is that (it will go to trial) in spring or early summer.''

Brian Stull also is suing KFNS for money he says he is owed after being fired last summer. He's now at WXOS (101.1 FM).

"It's not a lot of money, under $20,000, but we're not going to sit around and let them do that to him,'' Stull's attorney, Noel Sevastianos, said. "This (stinks) badly.''

Also KSLG management has been pursuing legal action against two former sales people who moved to KFNS.

And KFNS has fired Ryan Huff, a former producer who is being held in Jefferson County Jail and faces statutory sodomy and statutory rape charges in connection with incidents reported to police by two girls under age 14.
