(January 16, 2009) Jim Kozimor has not been fired, downsized or moved to overnights.
The former host of KHTK's "Showgram" has found another job besides radio: Olympic TV. Kozimor, who also serves as the pre- and postgame host on Kings telecasts, is working for the new Universal Sports Channel, a cable channel co-owned by NBC and InterMedia. It focuses on Olympic sports, giving NBC a programming bridge between Olympic Games. Kozimor said the opportunity arose quickly. "KHTK told me they wanted to investigate ways to use me throughout the day," he said, "and that same day, I got a call from people at NBC saying they would like to give me some opportunities (at Universal)." The Universal gig was born out of Kozimor calling badminton during the Beijing Olympics. Now he flies to Los Angeles once a week to provide analysis for taped sports programming. He works games for the Kings, his primary employer, and he fills in on KHTK shows while still hosting "Kings Talk" on Thursday nights. "This is as close to kismet as you could get professionally," he said. "I won't miss any Kings games. I will show up on more KHTK shows. And, I get a fun opportunity with this new network." |
