Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
(January 8, 2009) The Milwaukee Brewers are working on the assumption that they likely will be without radio broadcaster Jim Powell.
Powell appears headed to a job with the Atlanta Braves to take the place of Pete Van Wieren, who worked radio broadcasts of Braves games last year. Van Wieren retired. At the Web site of Sportscasters Talent Agency of America, a trade organization, the Brewers posted a notice asking for applications for a "potential opening for their No. 2 radio play-by-play position." The notice said all applications must be in Brewers offices by 10 a.m. Friday. A number of audition tapes had reached the Brewers by Wednesday morning. |
