Courtesy Media Week
(July 17, 2008) The Major League Baseball All-Star Game prime time telecast on Fox on July 16 delivered the most total viewers since the 2002 game—14.5 million viewers, a 16 percent increase over last year’s game on Fox, according to Nielsen Media Research Fast National numbers.

The four hour prime-time portion of the telecast (8:42 to 11:42 p.m.) drew an 18-49 demo rating of 4.5, 10 percent higher than last year, and an 18-34 demo rating of 4.1, up 8 percent over last year.

The pre-game portion of the telecast (8-8:42 p.m.) delivered a 3.0 rating among adults 18-49,
up 20 percent over last year’s pre-game show.

The game lasted well past midnight, going 15 innings before being won by the American League 4-3. It was the longest MLB All-Star game ever telecast.

ABC’s 8 p.m. game show, Wipeout, posted the second highest rated 18-49 ratings for the night, averaging a solid 3.1, but that was 18 percent lower than it’s season average.
