(July 14, 2008) The University of New Hampshire announced today that Learfield Sports has selected WGIR-AM 610 to expand the coverage of Wildcat athletics in southern New Hampshire.  Beginning with the 2008-’09 athletic season, 610 AM will begin airing all regular-season and post-season men’s hockey and football broadcasts as well as a select number of men’s basketball, women’s basketball and women’s hockey broadcasts.  Additionally, the Clear Channel Radio-owned station will air all football and men’s hockey coaches’ show broadcasts on Monday nights during the season and “Wildcat Sports Today”.

“This is exciting news for New Hampshire fans and radio listeners in southern New Hampshire,” said University of New Hampshire Athletic Director Marty Scarano.  “We are delighted to begin a new relationship with Clear Channel Radio.  This is positive in all aspects for all parties involved, including the many loyal listeners and supporters of WGIR-AM.”

The Wildcat Sports Network currently has four additional affiliates around the state of New Hampshire – WTSN-AM 1270 (Dover/Rochester/Plymouth); WUVR-AM 1490 (Lebanon); WNTK-FM 99.7 (New London) and WCNL-AM 1010 (Newport), with WTSN serving as the flagship station for the 2008-‘09 season.

“The Wildcat Sports Network is committed to the history of Wildcat Athletics, and I’m thrilled to be a part of the tradition that comes with being an affiliate,” said Joe Graham, Market Manager of Clear Channel Radio in Manchester.
