KFNS CUTS SPORTS REPORTER STULL

St. Louis Post Dispatch
(July 14, 2008) Sports-talk station KFNS (590 AM, 100.7 FM) fired Brian Stull, its primary reporter and fill-in host, on Friday.
"I’m not surprised with the way the station’s been going, tightening the belt’’ said Stull, who had been at the station for two years after a previous four-year stint and is getting married next month. "I wanted to be out and at as many things, so when I was on the air I wanted people to know I really had something to say.’’ The station has made numerous cutbacks in recent months and faces a wrongful termination suit from Kevin Slaten. But program director Chris "Hoss" Neupert said Stull was dismissed because of a change in philosophy, not financial reasons. He said hosts of shows now are expected to attend sporting events and provide their own reports, thus eliminating the need for Stull’s primary duties. Neupert also said specialized reporters might be added, focusing on individual sports. |
